Imagine my surprise when I received 24 samples of the new Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks in the mail. These samples came from Ulta, so I’m guessing it is some kind of platinum member perk, because Ulta and Urban Decay definitely have no idea who I am. 🙂 I’ve decided that I’m going to attempt to write about each shade and see how they perform.
I had no idea what color to try first, so I had my husband choose, and to my surprise he picked Rock Steady. I hardly ever wear red, hence my surprise. Another shock is that I really love this color (I don’t wear bold lips often)!
Rock Steady was originally from the Gwen Stefani lipsticks and is described as “deep wine red cream.” This is a yellow based red that will pair with the lip liner Gash. There are 50 lip liners being released with this collection along with the lipsticks.
The formula is really comfortable and very pigmented. It doesn’t dry out my lips at all (yay!). It is a little slippery and I had some feathering on my 35-year-old face, so I definitely need to wear a lip liner with this shade. I also don’t have a very defined lip line, so application can be tricky for me. That said, it should be noted that while I was drinking out of my water bottle, there was no transfer or smearing onto the bottle. I thought for sure it would be everywhere, but that was not the case!
As you can see, this color carries a fair bit of shine. Rock Steady is also listed under Wende’s 10 Top Picks!
The Vice lipstick collection will be in Ulta on June 16th.
