Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Gubby

gubby1Gubby (full sun) (*sample)

Oh, Gubby. Of the Urban Decay lipstick samples, Gubby is one that I was super excited about. The color just screamed, “Melissa, wear me!” This shade is described as “frosted light pink” –should that have been the warning???

I like the idea of Gubby, but the application did not work for me. The metallized formula, in the case of this shade, is not as smooth as the mattes or creams. The color is also semi-opaque, so a lot of my visible lip color shows through.

I also had some application issues since it was a drier formula than the other colors I have tried so far. That said, it didn’t feel uncomfortable during wear.  It also settled into my lip lines in a short amount of time. The wear time was just about perfect for me–about 2 1/2 hours.

gubby3In further investigation of Gubby, I went to Ulta to check it out in person, just out of curiosity. The consistency and opacity was the same as my sample. It is definitely worth checking out the Vice lipstick and lip liner collection in person. It was almost overwhelming to see how many beautiful colors there are!

Overall, I think Gubby is a beautiful color, but just didn’t work for me. I think it would look really pretty on someone with flawless lips. 🙂

  1. It really is made for being swiped on from the tube– I had a hard time getting it on with a brush, and with fingertip application as well. I think it’s just too light overall for fair skinned chicks like us– though it looks better on you than it did on me; it looks pretty good, but doesn’t do justice to your skin, I can tell.

    Peace, Mari
