*purchased by me
So, I totally cheated on my eyeshadow ban when my Groundwork Paint Pot ran out and bought this Shade and Light quad in Sage by Kat Von D ($25). I blame my husband! He got his haircut and brought a KVD BROCHURE home because he thought I would like it. He was totally right–I liked it. 😀
The Sage quad contains four colors: light peach, sage green, mushroom taupe, and beige. All four shades are matte.
If you have ever used any of the larger KVD palettes, the texture is the same buttery smooth feeling as her other palettes. Each color is very pigmented. The green color is a little stiff and works better with a smaller detail brush. It is darker on the lid than it appears in the pan.
I’ve worn this alone and with other palettes. Personally, an all matte look is typically not my style. I like bold, colorful eyes. That said, as a sidekick to other palettes, this little guy has great transition colors and the green color is nice for deepening the crease. For that reason, I find it very handy!
I also really like how small and compact this palette is; I keep it in my brand new makeup drawer (thank you, Dad, for the new vanity) and reach for it often when using shimmery shades, especially with singles.
While I think this is a lovely little quad, I won’t be purchasing more from this line (I say that now), because this is the one that really caught my eye. Honestly, I’d rather spend another $25 and just get the large palette if we’re talking KVD. That said, this quad has its redeeming qualities and works nicely with other palettes.
