Happy New Year! 🙂
The Urban Decay Afterdark palette is a jewel-toned, beautifully formulated delight of an eyeshadow palette, to put it lightly. This is a limited edition palette with duochrome and metallic shades, some that have been seen before, but mostly new. Also, I’m not entirely sure what shades are repeats except for Paralyzed and Lounge since that is what the Sephora description tells me. 😉
The formula is beautiful; it is similar to the Make Up For Ever Artist shadows or the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea palette (aka they have that slippery silicone feeling).
All of the colors are very pigmented upon the first swipe, and I think they perform much better with a brush compared to finger swatches, so that’s something to consider if you’re looking at it and experimenting with swatches in-store. I purchased mine without sampling it when it was available on the Sephora app.
Since then, I have been able to wear it enough to develop an opinion, and my opinion is that this should be part of the permanent line up. I love the Naked palettes, but I would love to see a counterpart to that with more jewel toned palettes!
Every shade in this palette is incredibly smooth and lasts all day long. I’ve been wearing them with the Urban Decay Anti-Aging Primer Potion and don’t experience fading; I typically wear shadow for 12+ hours per day.
If you love wearing color, you will likely love this palette as much as I do! 🙂
