Revlon came out with a cream eyeshadow formula recently, and since I use these as a primer and base layer I thought it was worth testing out. I purchased one shade, Black Currant (#740). This is a taupe/purple color with shimmer.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION (From Ulta)
Revlon ColorStay Crème Eyeshadow is a luxurious, longwear crème eyeshadow with a pro-inspired built-in-brush designed for easy, mess free application. Wears up to 24 hours.
Let’s get this out of the way: I’ve never worn this for 24 hours so I can’t vouch for that claim. Do people actually test this, or is it just a gimmick for saying it will last a long time?
The brush is housed in the cap, and it’s actually really useful! It is easy to apply the shadow with this little brush, and easy to give it a quick clean before putting it back (although mine is dirty in the photo above since I used it that day).
Is it long wearing? Yes! I use this as a primer for my shadows without a problem. I love wearing colored primers to give shadow some extra dimension.
Compared to the Maybelline Color Tattoos, I don’t think these are quite as pigmented. They are rather sheer on the first layer but easy to build without feeling thick.
Black Currant is a stunning color; it is truly gorgeous and one of the more unique shades in the lineup. There are plenty of neutrals to try if that’s your thing, but I am definitely more into the colorful shades. I also prefer these to the new Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Chromes, even though they are completely different concepts.
I can’t comment on if these will dry out as quickly as the Maybelline Color Tattoos, but time will tell. This is a comparison I’m interested to see, but I guess time will tell! 🙂
Although I personally do not do one shadow looks (nope…I’m just too much for that), I think these would be good for someone who does.
