12 Beauty FAILS! Skin, Hair, Makeup

Welcome to my first beauty fails post! I tend to keep it positive around here, but I do think it’s helpful to find out what doesn’t work as well. If you love any of these products, that’s great! They just simply did not work for me. Let’s jump into it!

John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray— Yes, I realize this is a cult classic, but it just did not work for me. It left my hair extremely hard and crispy, and I do not go overboard with the sea salt spray. I’ve given this enough chances to know this is not the sea salt spray for me.

Oribe Wave and Shine Spray— The only thing this did for me is make my hair look greasy, even if it was freshly washed. Not a fan!

L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black: I bought this knowing it didn’t work for me. I have tried it in the past and it smeared all over my face, not staying on my lashes at all. I decided to try the waterproof version, and it was the same thing: smear city!

Ciate Wonderwand Mascara: I actually love this mascara. It really adds volume and is super black. Unfortunately, it flakes and smudges quite a bit on me, which is such a bummer!

Givenchy Noir Couture 4 in 1 Mascara: Sample sized, but literally did nothing for my lashes. It didn’t even look like I had mascara on when I was wearing this. No length, no volume.

Clinique Aqua Pop Eyeshadow: This color is stunning, but the shadow fades so quickly! I have another shadow from this line and it is much better in the staying power department.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Rose Gold: People adore these so I feel kind of bad dissing it, but I just don’t get the hype around this pencil. I didn’t find it very pigmented, and the color is not amazing. Perhaps I would like a different color more.

Mary Kay At Play Mineral Neopolitan Baked Eye Trio: This isn’t a complete fail. I love the highlighter shade, but the brown and pink colors are a little lackluster and don’t show up very well. Wetting the shadow helps, but it’s still not enough.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Lip Oil: I was SO excited for these lip glosses, and even more excited when Pure Peach was a 100-point perk. Unfortunately, this gloss is a MAJOR let down. It smells like burnt plastic and although it is moisturizing, the color is difficult to distribute. Maybe on young, smooth lips it would work better, but for my 30-something dry lips, it just didn’t fly.

Smashbox Matte Liquid Lipstick: Too drying for me.

Ciate Liquid Velvet Lipstick: Again, too drying for me. I couldn’t wait to get this off of my lips.

Belif Aqua Bomb Mask: This mask is kind of strange. You have to fold the container to make it “pop”, and then the serum moisturizes the mask. Because of this, I don’t think the mask was particularly saturated, and I ended up applying most of the serum to my skin with my hands. I won’t be purchasing this mask again unless they make an improvement with the packaging.

That’s it! What didn’t work for you lately?

I was disappointed in how the Clinique Pop Eyeshadow apply – I love the blushes but the eyeshadows are lame.
