This past spring I began being more diligent in my skincare routine. Thanks to genetics I have been blessed with naturally good skin; I’ve never had any major issues with sensitivity, acne, or breakouts. That said, my new skincare routine has included finally leaving the world of makeup wipes and cleansing my face well every single night. This isn’t always easy when I’m really tired, but I have gone so far as to not buy makeup wipes to keep up with this habit.
One of my favorite ways to remove makeup is with cleansing oil. In the past I have enjoyed the Josie Maran cleansing oil, and I do love the Julep cleansing oil (so much so that I have a half used bottle and one waiting in the wings). One of my requirements for a cleansing oil is that it can’t smell overly floral, and it can’t make my eyes cloudy.
I was pleasantly surprised when the Derma-E Nourishing Rose Cleansing Oil showed up at my doorstep a few weeks ago! Since then, I have used about 1/3 of the bottle and have some thoughts on it.
Initially, I was hesitant when I saw that it was rose scented. Rose can either be heavenly or disastrous, but I am happy to report this is very mild and not overwhelming. The rose scent dissipates quickly and it is pleasant.
I’m impressed by the texture of this cleansing oil as well. It isn’t too thick, but it isn’t runny either; the consistency is just right. It is very smooth and “petal soft” truly is the perfect description for it.
Now for the most important part: did it lead to cloudy eyes? NO! I am not afraid to keep my contacts in while using this cleansing oil and it removes ALL of my eye makeup. I do not feel the need to go in with an extra eye makeup remover when I use this cleansing oil.
I use about three or four pumps to get all of my makeup off. It doesn’t leave a greasy residue behind, either.
In all, I was surprised at how much I like this, and it is very affordable: Currently it is $11.99 at Ulta, which is a fair price compared to some of the higher end oils (like Dior).
